Companionship Services for Seniors

Stone and Light provides non-medical companion services for seniors in Omaha, Nebraska — focused on connection, consistency, and genuine care. Our services are designed to reduce social isolation and give families real peace of mind.

Companionship With Intention

Most older adults do not need a nurse — they need a familiar, caring presence. Someone who shows up on time, remembers what they talked about last week, and genuinely enjoys spending time together.

Stone and Light builds that kind of relationship. We work closely with families during the intake process to understand each senior's personality, preferences, and schedule. Then we match them with a companion who fits — and we stay consistent.

Services can be scheduled weekly, a few times per week, or on a custom basis depending on what makes sense for your family.

What Each Service Includes

Companion Visits

Our core service. A companion visits the senior at home, in a care community, or wherever they live. These visits are centered on genuine conversation and connection — not tasks, not chores, just real human presence. We take time to learn what each person cares about, what they enjoy talking about, and what kind of company makes them feel comfortable.

Visits are typically 1–3 hours and can be scheduled as frequently as needed.

Social Engagement

For seniors who want more than conversation, we support activities that bring joy and mental stimulation. This might include card games, board games, puzzles, reading aloud, working on a hobby together, watching a favorite program, or reminiscing through photos and stories.

We take the lead from the senior — we are there to facilitate enjoyment, not to dictate an activity.

Check-In Visits

Shorter, focused visits for families who simply want to know their loved one is doing well. A companion stops by, spends time with the senior, and provides a brief update to the family afterward.

These are especially valuable for families who live out of town or have busy schedules but want regular reassurance that their parent or grandparent is safe, comfortable, and in good spirits.

Meal-Time Companionship

Eating alone is a small thing that can feel quite large over time. Sitting with a senior during breakfast, lunch, or dinner — sharing a meal, telling stories, enjoying the moment — can meaningfully improve quality of life.

Our companions are not preparing meals or providing nutritional oversight, but they are present, engaged, and making the experience warmer.

Walks and Light Activity

A gentle walk in the neighborhood, time in the garden, or a short trip to a park with a trusted companion can do a great deal for a senior's mood and energy. We move at the senior's pace, stay attuned to comfort and safety, and make sure the experience is enjoyable — not rushed.

Note: Stone and Light does not provide medical supervision during physical activity. Please consult a physician if your loved one has specific health considerations.

Family Communication

After each visit or check-in, we provide a brief update to designated family contacts — a note on how the senior seemed, what they talked about, whether anything stood out. Simple, professional, and consistent.

Families tell us this is one of the most valued parts of the service. Knowing someone you trust was just there — and that they noticed — makes a real difference.

Hospice & End-of-Life Companionship

When someone is nearing the end of life, presence matters more than anything.

We offer quiet, compassionate companionship for individuals in hospice care — sitting with them, talking, listening, or simply being there so they are not alone.

We also support families by giving them space to rest, step away, or just breathe, knowing their loved one has someone kind and attentive by their side.

This is non-medical companionship only.
